Welcome to the Dark Magic journal. We started this page for one reason: most of the questions our clients ask us in private — about pre-purchase exams, about pedigree, about which country produces the kind of horse they want — would help every buyer if they were written down somewhere.
What we will write about
This is not a news blog. We do not post results from this weekend’s Grand Prix or rumours from the auction circuit. What you will find here, instead, is a steady drip of practical, honest writing:
- Buyer guides — how to find the right horse for your level, how to read a pedigree, how to evaluate a sales video honestly.
- The import process — pre-purchase exams, CEM quarantine, transport logistics, the real cost of bringing a horse from Germany or the Netherlands to the USA.
- Bloodline notes — why a Diarado son might be a better match for you than a Cassini, and what to make of the latest stallions coming through.
- What we are seeing — periodic notes on the market, on prices, on what is moving and what is sitting.
What we will not do
We will not pretend every horse is “exceptional.” We will not write SEO fluff. If we publish less often, it is because we are at a yard somewhere in Europe, not because the page is dead.
